Dr. Richard Wahl has been named to succeed Dr. Gilbert Jost as head of radiology at Washington University School of Medicine and as director of the Mallinckrodt Institute of Radiology.
Wahl is a 1978 graduate and former resident and fellow of the school. He has conducted pioneering research in the development of specially targeted radiopharmaceuticals for diagnosing and treating cancer. Wahl has been with Johns Hopkins University since 2000, where he currently is director of the division of nuclear medicine/PET and vice chair of technology and new business development.
Jost has been head of the Mallinckrodt Institute for 15 years. His accomplishments include the creation of the Center for Clinical Imaging Research, a facility dedicated to providing advanced imaging technology to researchers in a patient-care environment. Jost will remain active in research at Mallinckrodt.
Wahl's appointment begins in October.
