Cubresa plans to unveil a new MR-compatible small-animal PET scanner at next month's Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) annual meeting.
The in-bore PET scanner uses silicon photomultiplier detector technology and can be inserted into a preclinical MRI device from manufacturers such as Bruker and Agilent, the company said.
With the new instrument, researchers can measure and correlate multiple physiological processes simultaneously with enhanced tissue contrast, quantitative accuracy, and study throughput, according to Cubresa.
The company has also entered into a research agreement with the Lawson Health Research Institute of London, Ontario. Lawson will use the new scanner for a number of applications, including oncology, cardiology, neurodegenerative diseases, and PET probe development.
