Isologic Innovative Radiopharmaceuticals has opened a new cyclotron and radiopharmaceutical manufacturing facility at Toronto's Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre.
Isologic's operation houses a cyclotron from Ion Beam Applications (IBA); the particle accelerator is capable of creating six isotopes for different medical applications. The facility also includes imaging agent synthesis modules capable of manufacturing more than 10 different PET imaging agents, as well as equipment to package and transport the radiopharmaceuticals.
A radiopharmaceutical team will keep operations running around the clock to produce more than 100 doses each day. The medical isotopes will be distributed in the greater Toronto area and throughout Ontario for patient PET scans and molecular imaging research.
The facility will also produce radiopharmaceuticals to support Alzheimer's disease clinical trials throughout Canada.
