NorthStar scores $12M for Mo-99 project

NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes has received $11.8 million from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) for the development and commercialization of technologies to produce molybdenum-99 (Mo-99).

NorthStar is working on two technologies to provide the radioisotope without using highly enriched uranium (HEU). DOE's National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) provided $8.9 million for NorthStar's neutron capture production process and $2.9 million for the company's accelerator production process, according to NorthStar.
