The global cyclotron market is expected to reach $245 million in 2030, with an annual growth rate of 3%, according to a new market research report by MEDraysintell.
For 2015 to 2030, the company estimates average sales of 60 cyclotrons per year.
The market reached a peak in 2006 at $176 million, increasing by an average of 4.5% a year from $87 million in 1990. However, between 2006 and 2014, the market showed an average annual decline of 2%, MEDraysintell said. The company found that the market's value in 2014 was $152 million; in 2015, it is expected to reach $165 million.
The first-edition report, called "Cyclotrons Report and Directory," includes data from as many as 1,218 cyclotrons dedicated to the production of medical radionuclides, as well as 60 cyclotrons which are known to have been decommissioned.
