The American College of Radiology (ACR) Committee on Incidental Findings has published new guidelines for managing incidental pituitary findings on CT, MRI, and F-18 FDG PET in a white paper in the Journal of the American College of Radiology.
Examining published data and expert opinion, the ACR pituitary subcommittee developed an algorithm that categorizes pituitary findings based on their imaging features -- accounting for most related pathologies and clinical scenarios -- and provides a management recommendation (JACR, May 4, 2018).
The pituitary subcommittee consisted of one endocrinologist and several neuroradiologists, including senior author Dr. David Seidenwurm of Sutter Medical Center in Sacramento, CA.
