The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared molecular imaging technology developer Spectrum Dynamics' Veriton-CT 64 SPECT/CT system.
The device offers three times the volumetric sensitivity and twice the throughput of conventional dual-head analog SPECT cameras, the company said. It features a new design of cadmium zinc telluride (CZT) digital detectors for more efficient data capture and potentially lower radiation dose to the patient, according to Spectrum Dynamics.
The wide-bore scanner's design makes it possible to replace multiple cameras with a single system, the company said.
