The Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI) and the American College of Radiology (ACR) have launched a new collaborative clinical data registry to collect and analyze data on nuclear medicine procedures.
The registry, which will initially focus on PET/CT imaging data, is designed to support high-quality practice and patient care as well as facilitate quality performance reporting to the federal government, according to the organizations. The diagnostic interventional radiology/nuclear medicine component will be piloted this year, with participating pilot sites receiving access to the registry data for the duration of the pilot. The SNMMI and ACR said that a joint registry committee will review requests for access to and use of the registry data for research, publication, quality improvement, or other purposes.
The registry will also facilitate reporting of quality performance to the federal government, according to the organizations. In the future, the collaborative registry may also expand to include quality measures focused on therapeutic aspects of nuclear medicine services.
