NorthStar Medical Radioisotopes said it has been awarded $15 million from the U.S. Department of Energy's National Nuclear Security Administration (DOE/NNSA) as part of a $30 million cooperative agreement to establish reliable domestic molybdenum-99 (Mo-99) production in the U.S.
NorthStar will use the funds, awarded as part of a DOE/NNSA industry outreach initiative, to advance its current neutron capture technology and support ongoing development of enhancements to its RadioGenix isotope separation system, according to the vendor.
As part of the cooperative agreement, NorthStar matched the DOE/NNSA's $15 million award for a total investment of $30 million.
