GE Healthcare has sold its network of 31 radiopharmacies in the U.S. to Radioisotope Life Sciences (RLS), a privately owned radiopharmacy network.
The deal makes RLS the largest pure molecular imaging company in the U.S., according to RLS. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. As part of the agreement, RLS will continue to supply GE with radioisotopes.
GE's radiopharmacy network covers 31 sites in 18 states, including its headquarters in Tampa, FL. RLS plans to invest $2 billion over the next 10 years to expand the network, while also investing in scientific and technological advances, according to the company.
RLS is led by CEO Werner Gruner, Chief Investment Officer Jaco van Niekerk, and Chief Operations Officer Shane Cobb. The company has also commissioned a task force to accommodate what it believes could be a surge in demand for specialized diagnostic services.
