Hitachi releases Airis 4.2 MRI software

Hitachi Medical Systems America has rolled out version 4.2 software for its Airis II open MRI scanner. The upgrade offers a number of performance enhancements, including echo-planar imaging (EPI)-based diffusion-weighted imaging. EPI-based diffusion-weighted imaging is useful in the diagnosis of acute ischemia and other neurological disorders, according to the Twinsburg, OH-based vendor.

Other additions include contrast-enhanced MR angiography, which is appropriate for vascular studies, and FatSep, a fat-suppression technique for enhancing the visualization of musculoskeletal anatomy. Version 4.2 software is available now free of charge to warranty and service contract customers, according to Hitachi.
