Hitachi Medical Systems America has completed the first installation of its Altaire 0.7-tesla open MRI scanner. Mission Regional Imaging Center in Mission Viejo, CA, bought the system, according to Twinsburg, OH-based Hitachi.
Altaire has a gradient system that provides 22 mT/m gradient amplitude and a 55-T/m/s slew rate. These features allow Altaire to perform imaging techniques such as echo-planar imaging-based diffusion-weighted imaging; MR angiography, including contrast enhanced MRA; ultrafast-scanning techniques such as single-shot and multi-shot EPI; and RF fat saturation, according to Hitachi.
