HCG delivers upgradable modular MRI building

Modular-building firm HCG Building Technologies of Ceres, CA, has delivered its first modular MRI building that can be upgraded to accommodate a 3-tesla MRI scanner.

The building was delivered to Holyoke Medical Center in Holyoke, MA. The 700-square-foot building can initially be installed to house a 1.5-tesla MRI scanner, but it has additional radiofrequency shielding in the walls to meet the needs of a 3-tesla scanner.

The building was preassembled to 95% completion at HCG's manufacturing plant, and shipped to Holyoke for final completion there. HCG believes the process saves time because onsite preparation can occur simultaneously with construction of the modular building.
