New Mexico governor Bill Richardson has signed a bill into law that requires healthcare professionals who perform diagnostic medical sonography and MRI to be licensed in that state, according to the American Society of Radiologic Technologists (ASRT) of Albuquerque.
The bill makes New Mexico the first state to require licensure for sonography and the second to require it for MRI. The new law goes into effect on July 1, the ASRT said.
