MRI coil developer MR Instruments has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance to market its 16-channel head coil for use with 1.5- and 3.0-tesla MR scanners from GE Healthcare.
The head coil is the culmination of a two-year R&D effort to develop a coil compatible with GE's 1.5- and 3.0-tesla legacy and next-generation MRI scanners. It combines an optimal number of radiofrequency (RF) detectors for high signal-to-noise ratio with an ergonomic design, MR Instruments said.
The company said it expects to receive the European CE Mark for the coil in the near future.
