MRI Interventions and medical device firm Monteris Medical joined forces in San Diego for glioblastoma treatment.
The two firms used MRI Interventions' ClearPoint neuro intervention system and Monteris' NeuroBlate system at UC San Diego Health System to aid MR-guided laser treatment in a glioblastoma patient. The ClearPoint system was used to create a path to the tumor, while NeuroBlate was used to ablate the tumor cells.
In addition, NeuroBlate's laser probe and Monteris M*Vision software with real-time MR thermometry were used to monitor the destruction of the tumor cells.
