Dear AuntMinnie Member,
Radiology administrators appear to be growing more optimistic about their business prospects, if the latest numbers from the Medical Imaging Confidence Index (MICI) are any indication.
The MICI numbers for the first quarter of 2015 show improving sentiment in nearly every one of the index's five categories. Produced by market research firm the MarkeTech Group and AHRA, the association for medical imaging management, the index is based on quarterly surveys of U.S. radiology administrators and is designed to be a leading indicator of sentiment in the industry.
The numbers are all the more remarkable in that they show a continued positive trend that began in the middle of 2014, reversing a series of quarters of steadily declining sentiment in early 2014 and 2013. Ferromagnetic detection in MRI
Are you considering installing a ferromagnetic detection system in your MRI suite to reduce the likelihood of missile-related hazards? If so, then you should check out a new book excerpt we're featuring in our MRI Community from the 2015 edition of the Reference Manual for Magnetic Resonance Safety, Implants, and Devices, by Frank Shellock, PhD.
Ferromagnetic detection systems can offer a degree of security in preventing incidents, but there are a number of options available, such as a portal system, pillar device, or handheld unit. And they do require some caution and preparation before use.

Maxillofacial CT
Finally, we close with an article on the use of intraoperative maxillofacial CT for trauma patients. Learn how clinicians in Massachusetts and California are using the modality to revise procedures as they are performed, in an article you can read by clicking here or visiting our CT Community at ct.auntminnie.com.
