Meet the Minnies candidates | New radiology comic launches | New MRI safety app

Dear AuntMinnie Member,

The moment you've all been waiting for is now here: We just published the list of candidates for the Minnies, AuntMinnie.com's annual event recognizing excellence in radiology!

We took your nominations to compile a list of 216 candidates in 14 categories, ranging from Most Influential Radiology Researcher to Best Radiology Mobile App. In between, you'll find categories recognizing the most effective educators, the coolest new devices, and the best scientific papers.

What happens next? Our top-secret expert panel of radiology luminaries will vote in a semifinal round to come up with two candidates in each category. After that, they'll choose the final winners, who will get handsome trophies to be awarded at this year's RSNA meeting.

Did someone you nominated make the cut? Find out by clicking here, or go to minnies.auntminnie.com.

Also, make sure to check out our Facebook page, where you can vote in our Best Radiology Image competition. Just click the like button on the image you think is best.

New radiology comic launches

In other news, we're pleased to announce the launch of #MyRadGirlfriend, a new comic strip that explores the lighter side of radiology.

#MyRadGirlfriend is all about the trials and tribulations of Andy, a second-year radiology resident trying to balance work and social life. She meets Ryan, a self-described computer geek, who soon begins learning more than he ever wanted to know about the ins and outs of radiology.

Check out our first panel by clicking here, and stay tuned each week for new installments.
