Dear AuntMinnie Member,
Ultrahigh-field MRI at 7 tesla is an incredibly powerful technology that has exciting potential for research applications. But does it also have a future for clinical work?
Radiologists at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston think it might. They recently installed a 7-tesla MRI scanner, and we bring you their story in our MRI Community. Learn more about the system -- and see amazing pictures of the installation -- by clicking here.
While you're in the community, be sure to check out this story on a study published today in JAMA Oncology in which researchers added breast MRI to mammography to screen younger women who had breast conservation therapy for signs of cancer recurrence. They found that the combination performed well, but it did result in more false positives. Is the trade-off worth it?

Radiologists, pick up the phone
Do you wonder if clinicians really appreciate your calls to them? A new study indicates they might value this communication more than you think.
Researchers from the University of Michigan Health System surveyed both radiologists and referring physicians about the frequency of their communications, and whether each group felt it was adequate. No radiologists thought they should communicate more often -- but nearly a quarter of the referring physicians did. Read more by clicking here.
