Subtle Medical targets gadolinium with NIH grant

Imaging artificial intelligence software developer Subtle Medical has been awarded a Small Business Innovation Research grant valued up to $1.6 million from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (NIH).

The 2.5-year award will fund the company's SubtleGAD AI product designed to reduce the amount of gadolinium needed for an MRI scan through deep learning.

Subtle Medical's AI portfolio includes SubtlePET, which has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the CE Mark, to help imaging centers enhance PET images. The company's SubtleMR, designed to accelerate results from MRI exams, currently is under FDA review.
