Healthcare technology firm Hyperfine Research is displaying its point-of-care MRI scanner at this week's American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP) meeting in Denver.

Image courtesy of Hyperfine Research.The portable, open-design MRI scanner is 20 times cheaper, uses 35 times less power, and weighs 10 times less than conventional MRI scanners, Hyperfine said. It is designed to bring MRI directly to the patient's bedside, without the need for trained technicians or separate hospital facilities for operation.
Hyperfine's point-of-care MRI can produce standard clinical MRI scans as well as 3D-rendered images. The company also said it is currently developing software for improving the image quality of point-of-care MRI scans and aiding diagnosis using artificial intelligence algorithms.
