The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) had cleared the Air Recon DL image reconstruction algorithm from GE Healthcare for the company's 3D and Propeller MRI sequences.
AIR Recon DL is GE's deep learning-based reconstruction algorithm for MRI sequences. The software is designed to improve signal-to-noise ratio and image sharpness to enable shorter scan times. It improves image quality by making use of the raw data to remove image noise and ringing, the company said.
With this latest FDA clearance, the software is now compatible for 2D to 3D imaging sequences used on GE MRI sequences, as well as for use with Propeller, a motion-insensitive imaging sequence particularly important for anatomies susceptible to motion, according to GE.
AIR Recon DL and the recent extensions are available on new GE Healthcare MRI scanners and as an upgrade for the majority of the company's installed 1.5-tesla and 3-tesla MRI scanners.
