UT Health
The University of Texas (UT) at San Antonio will be the first in Texas to house a Siemens Healthineers’ Magnetom Terra.X 7-tesla MRI scanner at its Center for Brain Health, opening in December 2025.
Cleared in March 2024, the scanner produces ultrahigh-resolution brain images and offers a new tool for diagnosing and studying dementia, Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other brain diseases, the university said.
The $100 million, 103,500 sq-ft Center for Brain Health will contain 75 exam rooms, 50 faculty offices, a 12-chair non-oncology infusion center, an outpatient pharmacy, and space for leading research and clinical trials, UT Health noted.
