Radiation therapy firm North American Scientific reported record fiscal fourth-quarter net sales of $9.8 million, up 172.2% compared with the $3.6 million booked in the fourth quarter of 2003.
For the period (end-October 31), the Chatsworth, CA-based firm had a net loss of $7 million (including a $2 million charge from its discontinued Theseus operations), compared with a net loss of $3.2 million a year ago. NAS attributed the increase in net loss primarily due to its acquisition of Nomos.
For the year, the firm had record net sales of $24.7 million, up 68% compared with the $14.7 million notched in 2003. NAS had a fiscal 2004 net loss of $36.3 million (including $10.2 million in acquisition-related expenses and $12.5 million from discontinued Theseus operations), compared with a net loss of $9.4 million in 2003. The increase in both net sales and net losses was attributed to the Nomos acquisition.
