Treatment center operator Radiation Therapy Services (RTS) reported that 21 of its treatment centers in Florida were temporarily closed due to Hurricane Wilma.
Six of these centers have been reopened as of today, while the remaining 15 will remain closed until local utilities can restore power to the areas where the centers are located, according to the Myers, FL-based firm.
A preliminary assessment by the company indicated that wind and flooding contributed to the minimal damage incurred by the facilities. No damage was inflicted on treatment equipment housed within the facilities, RTS said.
