Radiation therapy developer Varian Medical Systems of Palo Alto, CA, has opened a new manufacturing plant in Beijing.
The plant will produce Clinac CX linear accelerators for treating Chinese cancer patients and is located in the Beijing Economic Technical Development Area. Varian also plans to add an x-ray service facility incorporating x-ray tube assembly in support of its expanding OEM and service business.
Varian said the factory adds capacity complementary to Varian's principal manufacturing site in Palo Alto, and positions the company to meet increasing global demand for its medical linear accelerators.
