Radiation therapy developer AccuBoost of Billerica, MA, has installed one of its systems at Texas Cancer Clinic (TCC) in San Antonio.
AccuBoost is designed to deliver focused radiation to the lumpectomy cavity following whole-breast irradiation (WBI) therapy, and can also be used as a monotherapy for accelerated partial-breast irradiation (APBI) treatment. The system allows noninvasive high-dose-rate treatment of breast cancer, according to the company.
The TCC installation is the first for an AccuBoost system in Texas, and is the third in the U.S. Seven more installations are pending this year, according to the company.
