North American Scientific to divest Nomos unit

Chatsworth, CA-based radiation therapy developer North American Scientific (NAS) will divest its Nomos radiation oncology business.

The company also plans to renew marketing and development of its brachytherapy products for the treatment of cancer, which include Prospera brachytherapy seeds and SurTrak needles, and strands used primarily in the treatment of prostate cancer.

In addition, NAS will continue with plans to commercialize its ClearPath multichannel catheter breast brachytherapy devices in 2007.
