Siemens Healthcare and radiation therapy firm Accuray have formed a strategic alliance.
Under the terms of the deal, Malvern, PA-based Siemens will sell Accuray's CyberKnife robotic radiosurgery system worldwide as part of its portfolio in multiproduct sales. Sunnyvale, CA-based Accuray will continue to sell and distribute CyberKnife directly and through its existing distribution network.
In addition, the firms said they will also create a research and development alliance to explore potential synergies between the skill sets and technological capabilities of both companies. Siemens will also purchase and incorporate elements of Accuray's technology into its linear accelerator products, according to the firms.
