CIVCO completes Fla. install, debuts guide

Ultrasound and radiotherapy products developer CIVCO Medical Solutions of Kalona, IA, has installed its Protura robotic patient positioning system and Universal Couchtop at Boca Raton Regional Hospital's Lynn Cancer Institute.

Protura is compatible with image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT) coordinate systems and supports CIVCO's stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT) Body Pro-Lok attachments. At Lynn Cancer Institute, more than 100 cases of stereotactic radiosurgery and SBRT are performed each year. The company said it has installed a total of five robotic systems.

In other news, CIVCO has introduced a reusable, curved-path transrectal needle guide for the BP9-4 biplane transducer from Siemens Healthcare of Malvern, PA, designed specifically for prostate biopsies.

The company has also introduced a new 2 x 30-cm size latex-free NeoGuard transducer cover, available in both sterile and nonsterile configurations. The cover allows use of the transducer in scanning and needle-guidance procedures for body surface, endocavity, and intraoperative diagnostic ultrasound.
