CIVCO nets Protura sales, inks Varian deal

Ultrasound and radiotherapy products developer CIVCO Medical Solutions has installed its Protura robotic patient positioning system and Universal Couchtop at Moores Cancer Center in San Diego and Zurich University in Switzerland.

The company has also signed a joint interface agreement with radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems. Both Protura and Universal Couchtop have been validated for use with Varian's Clinac and Trilogy platforms.

In other CIVCO news, the company has promoted Michael Saracen to vice president of advanced robotics and image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT)-related technologies. Saracen has previously served as general manager of advanced robotics and IGRT solutions.

CIVCO has also promoted Eric Knipfer to director of business development for advanced robotics.
