TomoTherapy deal a mixed bag in Accuray's Q1

Driven by its June acquisition of TomoTherapy, radiation therapy firm Accuray reported a sizable gain in revenues in its first quarter of fiscal year 2012 (end-September 30), although the company's net loss also jumped.

Revenues more than doubled to $100.4 million, compared with $38.1 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2011. But the company also posted a net loss of $28.1 million, compared with a net loss of $4.6 million in the same quarter of the last fiscal year.

During the first quarter, Accuray shipped 24 TomoTherapy units and installed 16 of those systems, increasing its worldwide installed base to 598 devices.
