Elekta gets FDA OK for Fraxion head frame

Oncology firm Elekta has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for its Fraxion head frame.

Fraxion is designed to immobilize the cranium, thus helping to ensure accuracy in stereotactic radiation therapy of cancer targets in the brain and cranium, Elekta said.

The patient can be immobilized with a thermoplastic mask, with the vacuum mouthpiece, or a combination of both systems. The partial and full head thermoplastic masks provide alternative immobilization options for noninvasive setup.
