Radiation oncology firm Elekta said it has signed a $35 million agreement to equip the Health Department of the People's Liberation Army (PLA) in China for its expanded cancer fight.
Elekta will deliver a comprehensive range of clinical equipment including its Leksell Gamma Knife, linear accelerators, and associated software. The deal represents the company's largest sale to date in China and will be finalized when all conditions of the agreement have been met, according to Elekta.
Cancer is a leading cause of death in China, and the number of oncology patients is expected to grow significantly in coming years as its large population ages, Elekta said.
