Radiation oncology firm Elekta said that its Nucletron division is presenting its redesigned Flexitron remote after-loading platform at this week's American Brachytherapy Society meeting in New Orleans.
The redesigned Flexitron features a new layout designed to efficiently lead users through the treatment delivery workflow, according to Elekta. Flexitron has also been outfitted with transfer tubes that are all the same 1,000-mm length.
In addition, Elekta has included a "reference zero" at the entrance of the catheter; a dwell position number that directly reflects the dwell position distance; and forward stepping-source positioning, according to the company.
In other Elekta news, the firm has received an order from the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center for two Versa HD linear accelerators. MD Anderson expects to begin treating patients on the systems by January 2014, Elekta said.
