RaySearch unveils new RayStation

Radiation therapy planning software firm RaySearch has introduced version 4.0 of its RayStation treatment planning system.

Version 4.0 offers a number of new features and improvements, including the extension of its multicriteria optimization tool to support creation of volumetric modulated arc therapy treatments in addition to intensity-modulated radiation therapy, RaySearch said.

The company has also incorporated atlas-based segmentation in its patient-modeling module, allowing users to create organ atlases from clinical cases. New patients can then be segmented by automatic deformable registration of the best-matching atlas in the clinical database, according to the vendor.

Other new features include support for static arcs in 3D conformal radiation therapy planning and faster optimizations.

RayStation 4.0 is available now for clinical use in several European countries, the U.S., Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. It's scheduled for release in Canada, China, and South Korea, RaySearch said.
