Elekta launches new imaging tools for Versa HD

Radiation oncology firm Elekta has launched new tools for its x-ray volume imaging (XVI) software for image-guided radiation therapy on its Versa HD linear accelerator.

Integrated with Versa HD, XVI 5.0 now provides tools to monitor and manage internal motion, supporting users' efforts to increase therapeutic doses delivered to the tumor while reducing healthy tissue exposure during treatment. It includes 2D, 3D, and 4D intrafraction imaging to support live imaging during procedures such as volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT), and the technology works with the company's Mosaiq image-enabled oncology information system, according to Elekta.

The package is pending 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
