Proton therapy developer Mevion Medical Systems said that the first patient worldwide has been treated using its S250 proton therapy system.
Radiation oncologists at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis delivered the first S250 treatment to a patient with chondrosarcoma at the base of the skull, Mevion said.
