The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) and the American Association of Physicists in Medicine (AAPM) have joined forces to introduce the Radiation Oncology Incident Learning System (RO-ILS), a national patient safety initiative to provide safer and better radiation oncology care, the organizations said.
RO-ILS is the only medical specialty society-sponsored radiation oncology incident learning system that is within a federally listed patient safety organization (PSO), Clarity PSO. The data it collects will be used to educate the radiation oncology community about how to improve safety and patient care, they said.
