CAMRT joins healthcare lobbying effort

The Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) said it's supporting the Health Action Lobby (HEAL) coalition in its effort to make healthcare issues a priority for the Canadian government.

Noting that policy debates for the 2015 election campaign have rarely focused on healthcare, the coalition of 30 national health and consumer associations and organizations has issued a call to action via a consensus statement, called the Canadian Way - Accelerating Innovation and Improving Health System Performance.

In the statement, HEAL said that an effective health system in Canada depends on enhanced collaboration among all levels of government, and that it expects the federal government to reassert its legitimate and facilitative leadership role, according to CAMRT.

As for CAMRT itself, CEO Francois Couillard said that the association is also committed to finding sustainable, cost-effective options to improve healthcare in Canada. It has actively promoted greater collaboration among all healthcare stakeholders, including sponsoring a successful resolution at the 2015 National Health Leadership Conference for increased collaboration and coordination on optimizing professional scopes of practice, Couillard said.
