Fujifilm Medical Systems USA has awarded two grants as part of the company's support for the RSNA Research and Education Foundation.
For the first grant, Fuji awarded $30,000 to Dr. Ashley Sekhon, a resident in the department of radiation oncology at Ohio State University, to develop an updated image analysis tool for anonymized digital photos of breast appearance. The goal of the tool is to allow objective evaluation and scoring of cosmetic results after radiation therapy that can be used to standardize cosmetic assessment in future clinical trials.
For the second grant, Fuji awarded $3,000 to Jacob Scott Thurston of the Medical College of Wisconsin; the award will be matched by another $3,000 from the college's department of electrical and computer engineering. Thurston will investigate the cost-effectiveness of femoral artery access guided by percutaneous ultrasound compared with open surgical exposure of the femoral artery during endovascular procedures.
