Radiation oncology firm Elekta said the Clinical Cancer Center at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee has treated its first patient with the company's Unity MR-guided radiation therapy system.
A 47-year-old patient with metastatic liver cancer was treated using Unity in January, according to Elekta. Unity, which received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance in December, combines a 1.5-tesla MRI scanner from Philips Healthcare and a linear accelerator for delivering radiation therapy.
