Australian cancer and cardiac care company GenesisCare has closed the previously announced acquisition of U.S.-based radiation therapy and integrated cancer treatment provider 21st Century Oncology.
The deal makes GenesisCare one of the largest networks of integrated oncology care in the world, with treatment centers and clinics across the U.S., Australia, the U.K., and Spain, the firm said. GenesisCare plans to increase access to high-quality cancer care services for patients across U.S. communities. This includes installing 10 linear accelerators in the next 100 days at locations across Florida, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Rhode Island.
The combination of GenesisCare and 21st Century Oncology creates a network of more than 5,000 doctors, specialists, and staff members and will reach over 400,000 patients across 440 locations internationally each year. This includes GenesisCare's cardiac services in Australia.
GenesisCare continues to be led by founder and CEO Dan Collins.
