Proton therapy developer Ion Beam Applications (IBA) has received a contract from the Sichuan Cancer Hospital and Institute in China to install its ProteusPlus proton therapy system.
The system, which will be installed in Chengdu in the Sichuan province, will be configured with three gantry rooms and one fixed-beam room, according to the vendor. All treatment rooms will be equipped with cone-beam CT capability and pencil-beam scanning for intensity-modulated proton treatments (IMPT), IBA said. The company will also be including its dosimetry software suite.
IBA has valued the contract at 50 million euros ($59.5 million U.S.). Installation is expected to begin in 2022.
