The American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO) is lauding the Biden administration's nomination of Chiquita Brooks-LaSure as head of the U.S. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS).
ASTRO is also praising the administration's appointment of Elizabeth Fowler, PhD, as director of the U.S. Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI).
The society on March 1 led a group of 27 organizations in submitting a letter to CMS offering suggestions for improving the RO (radiation oncology) Model, which it believes that in its current form "is overly focused on achieving significant savings, at the risk of hurting access to care and quality."
