Intravascular ultrasound developer EndoSonics has received Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance for Avanar, a third-generation IVUS catheter.
Avanar builds on the Rancho Cordova, CA-based vendor's IVUS product line, adding improved integrated circuit technology to provide superior image quality and ensuring accurate arterial sizing and definitive morphologic assessment, according to EndoSonics. Avanar also has a small profile to allow for easier and more rapid access through stents, tight lesions, and small tortuous arteries, according to the firm.
