ATL debuts second generation of SonoCT

Ultrasound vendor ATL Ultrasound of Bothell, WA, has launched the second generation of its SonoCT real-time compound imaging technique.

ATL touts SonoCT as a new technology that enables clinicians to generate increased diagnostic information across a wider application range. The new generation of SonoCT supports a broader range of scanheads, and also works with advanced signal processing technologies like the company's Tissue Harmonic Imaging, 3-D imaging, and panoramic ultrasound techniques.

SonoCT processes up to nine distinct ultrasound images from multiple lines of sight, and compounds them in real time into one image in a process unobtainable with single-line-of-sight ultrasound, according to the company. ATL introduced the technology in 1999 on its high-end scanners.
