Siemens gets German OK for Acuson purchase

The German Federal Cartel Office has cleared Siemens Medical Engineering to proceed with its planned acquisition of ultrasound vendor Acuson, according to Siemens.

The clearance satisfies an important condition of Siemens’ purchase of any Acuson shares tendered as a result of the offer. The Erlangen, Germany-based firm’s completion of the offer is still contingent on expiration or termination of the applicable waiting period under U.S. antitrust law, among other conditions.
