Ultrasound firm Misonix of Farmingdale, NY, has announced a deal to acquire Fibra Sonics, a Chicago-based manufacturer of ultrasound devices for surgical applications.
Misonix will purchase all of the assets of Fibra Sonics, and will assume some of the company's accounts payable. The companies did not disclose other terms of the deal, which is expected to close in January.
The deal will give Misonix access to three new markets, in neurosurgery, urology, and ophthalmology. Misonix will also be able to add its products to the Fibra Sonics distribution system, according to Michael McManus, president and CEO of Misonix.
