Sony launches ultrasound printer

Sony has introduced a compact printer specifically targeted for digital ultrasound systems as well as the dental market. The UP-D895MD permits physicians to generate 325 dots per inch (dpi) prints in about 3.9 seconds. The footprint of the unit is 6 1/8 x 4 1/4 x 10 1/4 inches (~16 x 10.8 x 26 cm), and it features 8 MB of on-board memory. The printer is slated to retail at a suggested price point of $1,395, according to the Park Ridge, NJ-based company.
